"A mother's deepest satisfaction is when her children grow up to be good people, good citizens and good parents." While May Tallman would say this is true of her, it could well be said that her parents, Morris and Rebecca Mindess, would say the same. For May is all of those things — a good person, a good citizen, and a good mother.
Above all, she is proud of her family. She has had two wonderful husbands; Alex Tadman to whom she was married from 1944 until his passing in 1995, and Dan Tallman, to whom she has been married since 1999.
Her children and grandchildren, though, are her "claim to fame", she says. Her daughter, Roberta Tadman Chochinov, has her Masters degree and is a licensed marriage and family therapist. She is married to Dr. Ron Chochinov, an endochrinologist, and they live in Ventura, California. They have two daughters, Carrie and Jennifer.
Granddaughter Carrie has her Masters in Social Work and is a licensed clinical worker. She is presently a counsellor in the Oncology department at the Community Memorial Hospital of San Buenaventura in Ventura. She is married to Andy Sundberg, MBA and it was a special joy for May when their first baby, a son born in 2007, was named Alexander after his grandfather.
Granddaughter Jennifer is working on her PhD in History. Having done some of her initial training at University of Warwick in Coventry, England, she is completing her studies at University of California — Davis.
May's son is Michael J. Tadman, a lawyer in Calgary, Alberta. He is married to Candis Haslett, Executive Administrator at Husky Oil, and they have a daughter, Julia, who is an honours student completing high school.
While May acknowledges that she has spent time as a volunteer in numerous capacities, that she has achievements and activities that are interesting, and that she is grateful to a community where she has had lifelong friendships, what is important for her to record in this Endowment Book of Life is that what has fulfilled her most is the joy of family.
