Marilyn Regiec

My Story...

Marilyn (Cohen) Regiec is the current Executive Director of the Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre.

My family consists of my parents, Joe and Louise Cohen, my daughter and son in law Cara and Steven Enns, my granddaughter, Corinna Andruschak, my husband Alex Regiec, my brother and sister in law Harvey Cohen and Faye Rosenberg Cohen and their sons Binyamin, Yitzchak and Meir.

Manitoba has been my home since arriving here from the UK in 1967 with my parents and brother.

I have been the Executive Director of this wonderful organization since October 2003. Prior to the Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre I spent over 20 years working for various community non-profit organizations and rural municipal governments in the capacity of CAO.

What I have witnessed these past seven years is an organization that has re-invigorated a very important segment of our community. The Gwen Secter offers remarkable opportunities for older adults to achieve their full potential as productive and active members of the community and for this I am very proud. The wide range of programs and activities enables us to keep physically and socially active and thereby maintain a healthy and happy independent lifestyle. My staff and I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment and I believe we are meeting that objective.

The Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre has given me an opportunity to pursue a new career in social services; it has opened a whole new world of friends and acquaintances and my life has been enriched because of this. To show my commitment to this valuable Jewish community organization, I have opened the "Marilyn Regiec Fund" within the Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre Endowment Fund. This fund, housed at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba, will support the centre in perpetuity and ensure that the future for this wonderful organization is secure.
